Population: 4.99m (3.73m Singapore residents; 1.25m non-residents)

Median age: 37

More women than men: 44,000 to be exact

Marriages: Up 24,596, making it the largest number since 2000

Fertility rate: 1.28 live births per female in 2008 compared to 1.29 a year earlier

Giving birth later: 30-34 years

Those living alone: 10% rise
