Week 14 of 52 LSE – What is Masculinity?

Posted On: April 6, 2014

Welcome to Love, Sex, and Everything In Between. My name is Martha. I’m a sexologist, and I am playing Princess Know-It-All.

The theme of this month is Masculinity. So what is masculinity?

When I think of the word masculine, I’d like to think of a pillar that is strong, solid, firm, and unwavering, unshakable. So people who are masculine tend to be people who are very direct, very focused, very strong, and very firm. Some words that are associated with masculinity, I included thinking, planning, and not so good at multi-tasking.

So this week I have this little exercise where I am introducing to you the stress journal. In the stress journal, you document instances where you are feeling stress in your body, and after one week of noticing all the instances where you are feeling stress in your body and where you are feeling the stress in your body, you begin to see a pattern.

So I want you to notice where stress comes out in your life and I want you to think about the word masculine and how you are showing up in the world as somebody who is masculine and in what ways you are showing up as a masculine person.
