Take a Sacred Pause… because you need it.

“This short session is a great opportunity to reflect about the past year, acknowledge the good and the not so good and project our energy into the year ahead.” – Sylvain Mahe

“Martha led us in a wonderful “mini retreat” reflecting on the past year and looking forward to 2016 and how to seek greater clarity in our future vision.” – Sue Lightfoot

800px-The_sun2In the midst of our holiday preparations and merry-making, let us remember to take a sacred pause to honor the wisdom of the deep darkness. If you feel positively allergic to rah-rah resolutions and frenetic goal-setting, here’s an antidote.

Join me where we take a breath and align with our sacred center. Guided meditation and gentle inquiry into the year that’s passed and what you’re magnetizing in for 2016.

Bring your journal and come relax.

What is the significance of the New Year?

Early calendar-makers didn’t know it, but today we know there is another bit of astronomical logic behind beginning the year on January 1. Earth is always closest to the sun in its yearly orbit around this time.  On January 2, 2016, our planet Earth reaches its closest point to the sun for this year at 22:49 Universal Time (5:49 p.m. EST). This is Earth’s perihelion. The word perihelion is from Greek roots peri meaning near, and helios meaning sun. People didn’t always celebrate the new year on January 1. The earliest recording of a new year celebration is believed to have been in Mesopotamia, circa 2000 B.C.
