Talk 1: Women Are Always Right And Men Are Never Wrong by Dr. Simon Neo

Love is wonderful, but no one ever said love relationships are easy. Even a good marriage–can have bad times. It helps to think of a relationship as a “work in progress” in which we continually strive to understand our own psyche and making sense of how best we can love our spouse.

“Relatedness is a core aspect of our selves, a good intimate adult relationship is a safe place where two people can experience feelings of vulnerability–being scared, feeling overwhelmed by life, being unsure of who they are. It’s a place where we can deal with those things, not deny them, control them or regulate them.” Dr Susan Johnson.

Come and learn about how we can make each other successful and yet, not losing oneself and our identity altogether.

Talk 3: Dating Gap Identity by Lauryn Huang

One of the most common problems in dating is that we don’t like people who like us or the people that we like, don’t like us back. When this happens, there’s a gap of how we view ourselves and how other people view us.

So what can we do in this situation? A re-examining of our identity and how we present ourselves is required. Sometimes the dating persona that we have is different from our actual identity. This leads to a mismatch of the people we attract and the people who we want to be with. Join us, as we give you strategies as to how to bridge this gap to increase your chances of success in the dating arena.

Talk 7: Living Life On Your Terms

The talk will focus on establishing personal boundaries and how boundaries in relationships keep the relationships safe. Poor boundary management leads to continual problems. Having too many personal boundaries creates isolation; having too few draws constant violation. Having a combination of too many boundaries in some areas and too few in other areas is a common variation that creates alternating isolation and violation.

Some areas we will touch on include: Insecurity about power issues in relationship and how to confront abusive patterns; How to fulfil the love in families while managing the craziness; Putting boundaries on one’s own unhealthy behaviours; Finding ‘who am I?’ in situations and feeling clear and strong about it.

Healthy boundaries are only created and managed by one’s choice and vigilance. They are not automatically bestowed by life. When present, they enable a life freer from negative patterns rooted in the past.

Talk 14: True Self Love & Effective Relationship Management  by Luke Elijah

What does self love truly entail? How do we achieve it? Why are relationships with ourselves and others so complicated, complex and seemingly elusive? Our interpersonal relationships offer unparalleled opportunities for expansion and growth. As such, they should be deeply cherished. However, oftentimes they can be challenging, perplexing and problematic. Emotions and feelings are part of our intrinsic human nature and are vital to our total holistic well-being. Unfortunately for most of us, effective emotional and relationship management are not taught to us by our elders who quite frankly also do not have a clue, and neither is it a subject taught at school. As such, most of us do not know how to process these organic emotions and thus are not equipped with the right tools to cope with them. This leads to the suppression and denial of these natural emotions which then permeates into greater segregation and separation from one another. Unprocessed feelings and repressed emotions such as anger, frustration, anxiety, etc  that have been bottled up over time leads to the development of physical ailments and diseases. The consequence is poor overall health and a breakdown in our relationships with others. As such, it all starts with self love and emotional balance. In this dynamic and informative session lead by top life and relationship coach Luke Elijah, learn easy to follow and practical tips on emotional management and loving yourself.

About Luke Elijah

Multi-talented Luke Elijah is a true renaissance man. He has garnered a myriad of accolades and trophies in several disciplines, and has also represented Singapore in various international competition and brought home several awards. Luke hails from a family lineage of healers, physicians and spiritual practitioners dating back four generations. Panel 2: BDSM Panel – “What’s fun about pain?”

Hosted by Relationship Counselor and Clinical Sexologist Dr. Martha Tara Lee of Eros Coaching will pose this question to our panel with representatives from the BDSM (bondage, discipline, dominance and submission, sadomasochism) community. Each person will share their sexuality journey, answer what BDSM is to them, and how to practice BDSM safely. Let’s discuss.

Talk 15: Family History of Love by Evonne Lek

We often think of love as adult romantic love and we can take family love for granted. How we are loved or whether we felt loved as children affects how we love in the future. We naturally want to form an attachment with our caregivers to feel secure and safe and our early relationship patterns become internalised and guide us in our future love relationships.

Secure attachments to childhood caregivers are more likely to result in secure and stable romantic relationships in adult life. If you understand the types of love or attachment you had with your caregiver, you will be more aware of your current relationship attachments.
I will explain the different attachment styles to help you learn more about how you connect with others and whether you view yourself as worthy of love. This talk is relevant whether you are single, dating, married or a parent.

About Evonne Lek

Evonne Lek is an experienced systemic family psychotherapist, qualified in the UK. She has her own successful practice, Reconnect Child and Family Therapy.

She is passionate about mental health and has 18 years’ experience working with children, couples and families with a range of disabilities and mental illnesses. Her systemic therapy training has always been well received and she has been widely quoted in the news and interviewed for television.
