Week 16 of 52 LSE – Uncovering the Masculine Heart

Posted On: April 20, 2014

Welcome to Love, Sex, and Everything in Between! My name is Martha. I am a sexologist and I am playing Goddess Goody Two Shoes. So tune in to find out what I have to say.

The theme of this month is Masculinity, and today I want to talk about uncovering the masculine heart. A masculine person is very focused and direct in their approach to what’s life. So opening up the heart is something that doesn’t make sense.

So why would somebody talk about emotions when sometimes talking about it does not provide any solution? So this week, I’d like to encourage the masculine person inside you, whether you are a man or a woman, to really uncover this masculine heart in ways in which we can do it.

It’s as simple as being more attentive in our listening. There is active and passive listening, and in active listening, what I’m encouraging you to do is not just listen to the face value, words that’s coming your way, but the emotions that are underneath the words you are hearing. Listen for the emotions. Be an active listener and from having more active listening, what I’m hoping is you develop more awareness and understanding of what the person who is talking to you is really trying to say.

By being able to be more aware and much more in acceptance, what I am hoping is your heart can be a little bit more open towards perhaps moving away from status quo and actually going into more sharing. The challenge for this week really is about using more “I” statements, taking responsibility for the way you feel.

So I’d like to encourage you to begin conversations with your loved ones with the words “I feel.” So listen and then talk – come forth and speak with words along the lines of “I feel…” So with that, I am hoping that this little tip was useful to you.
