Eros Coaching is featuring Kareen Lai about her work as a Founder of Mums In Sync.

1. Tell us about yourself

My name is Kareen. I’m mum to a pair of twins and founder of Mums In Sync. We run fitness and nutrition programs to help mothers lead active and healthy motherhoods. In fact, we specialise in helping postnatal women learn how to heal and get stronger safely, so they can rock the world with renewed confidence. I’m also an Educator with FIT Singapore where I teach the Pre and Postnatal Certification Course, to help other trainers learn how to train mums safely. Other fun things I do …. I have a pair of super active twins, I love rock climbing (though in recent years, I feel more like a professional belayer for my kids), I started ultra trail running 2 years ago. And I
love durian.

2. Why do you do what you do?

My journey into health and fitness started after I had my twins. Back in 2010, I was a massive 85 kg the night before I delivered them. I put on about 30kg. In my journey to finding my fit, active and strong self again, I was also inspired to want to reach out to other mums to help them lead active healthy lifestyles. I was adamant that motherhood doesn’t mean you need to be frumpy, lose your sense of self and forsake personal health care. Over time, I also discovered that we have a serious lack in proper postnatal education here in Singapore. There was so much that I realised I didn’t know and wished a someone had told/ taught me about what I needed to know about my body when I was pregnant (and after). Long story short, that got me very interested in postpartum fitness care, what it entails, what are fads and myths and to dig and find out what truly works or not ….. So here I am working with postpartum mummies, to hep them heal safely and get stronger from the inside out.

3. What are your future plans?

World domination of course! Nah ….. I will be happy if I were to be Able to influence the postpartum care protocol in Singapore and improve the post care standards. That would be a big mission accomplished.

4. Any advice for others?

Don’t accept things for what it is. Always ask WHY and you will be surprised where the new discoveries can take you.

5. What’s your immediate plans?

Right now, I am looking forward to working with organisations to be their trusted partner in supporting women’s health and fitness, specially in the area of strategic pre and postpartum care. If you share similar heart and would like to reach out, you can find me @kareenlai on social, or write to me via kareen@mumsinsync.com
