Going Away isn’t necessarily all Good!

Who doesn’t love traveling – seeing new places, taking in new sights, sounds and experiences?
My clients who holiday to rekindle their relationship tell me that it doesn’t necessarily lead to more sex.
Depending on the travel plans, one can be too tired from all the sightseeing to have sex!
Depending on who else comes along, parent(s), kid(s) and/ or friend(s) the conditions for sex doesn’t make it possible.
All in all, most would agree that traveling in the hopes for more sex doesn’t always work – and also not sustainable.
Instead of hoping for holidays to make sex to happen – I’m not saying it won’t – why not look at what needs to fundamentally change?

How about developing habits and creating conditions so sex can happen at home?

Some Suggestions:

1) Discuss and block out time for physical intimacy – once on a weekend; another time on a weekday.
If you schedule your weekday date earlier in the week and something comes up, it can still postpone to a later day that week.
E.g. reschedule Tues to Wed or Thurs.

2) Agree what time to put away all electronic devices – don’t just escape from reality.
It’s not quantity but quality time that you create. 5mins a day x 5 days a week = 25mins a week!

3) Have a code word/ body signal to use infront of your child(ren) so your partner knows you’re open to sex when they’ve gone to bed
Be on the same page quickly and without the drama!
