Clowning in the Bedroom

Clowning in the Bedroom is a fun-filled, interactive workshop designed to help individuals learn how to be playful and communicate effectively in intimate relationships. In this workshop, participants will learn the art of clowning which includes comedy, physical theatre, and improvisation, to explore new ways of expressing themselves in their romantic relationships.

Workshop Goals:

  • Learn how to communicate more effectively with your partner through playful activities.
  • Discover new ways to express yourself through improvisation.
  • Develop a greater understanding of intimacy and vulnerability.
  • Learn how to create a safe and supportive space for exploration and experimentation.
  • Explore ways to incorporate humor and playfulness into your intimate relationships.

Workshop Structure:

The workshop will be divided into several sections, each designed to help participants develop specific skills related to intimacy and communication

  1. Introduction to clowning: Participants will learn the fundamentals of play and clowning through game-based teamwork exercises
  2. Improvisation and communication: Participants will engage in improvisation exercises to improve their ability to communicate effectively.
  3. Humor and playfulness: Participants will learn how to incorporate humor and playfulness into their intimate relationships to enhance their connection and sense of fun.
  4. Exploring vulnerability: Participants will be encouraged to explore their vulnerabilities and how to use them to deepen their connection with their partner.
  5. Closing discussion: Participants will have the opportunity to reflect on what they have learned and how to apply these new skills to their intimate relationships.

ShaniceAbout Shanice Stanislaus

Shanice Stanislaus is an artist who strongly believes in making the arts accessible through multi-disciplinary mediums. She believes in the power of arts empowerment for all and uses her role as a performer, creator and educator to create meaningful work for communities around her.

Her artistic practice is strongly influenced by her work with international directors and choreographers. She started her professional artistic journey at 18 with Flamenco dance theatre company, Flamenco Sin Fronteras and has since been performing under  esteemed Flamenco Dance Theatre practitioner, Antonio Vargas. She also has worked as a performing artist locally and internationally; with award winning Broadway Jazz choreographer, Sue Samuels (New York City), theatre director Bill Bowers (New York City), theatre practitioner Philippe Gaulier (Paris), David Glass (UK), Deufert & Plishke (Germany) award-winning director and choreographer Alberto Velasco (Barcelona), prominent Singaporean directors Alvin Chiam and Claire Wong.

She is the founder and director of Creatives Inspirit, a creative arts company with the mission to empower and nurture a community of socially responsible thinkers, artists, problem solvers and creative change-makers.

About Dr. Martha Tara Lee

Dr. Martha Tara Lee has been a passionate advocate for positive sexuality since 2007. With a Doctorate in Human Sexuality and a Masters in Counseling, she launched Eros Coaching in 2009 to help individuals and couples lead self-actualised and pleasurable lives. Her expertise includes working with couples who have unconsummated marriage, individuals with sexual inhibitions and discrepancies in sexual desire, men with erection and ejaculation concerns, and members of the LGBTQIA+ and kink communities. Dr. Lee welcomes all sexual orientations and is available for online and face-to-face consultations. Martha speaks English and Mandarin.

She is the only certified sexuality educator by the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists (AASECT) in the region (as of 2011) and is also an AASECT certified sexuality educator supervisor (as of 2018). She strives to provide fun, educational, and sex-positive events and is often cited in the media including Huffington PostNewsweek, South China Morning Post, and more. She is the appointed Resident Sexologist for Singapore Cancer Society, Of Noah.sgOfZoey.sg, and Virtus Fertility Centre. She is the host of radio show Eros Evolution for OMTimes Radio. In recognition of her work, she was named one of ‘Top 50 Inspiring Women under 40’ by Her World in July 2010, and one of ‘Top 100 Inspiring Women’ by CozyCot in March 2011. She is the author of Love, Sex and Everything In-Between (2013),  Orgasmic Yoga: Masturbation, Meditation and Everything In-Between (2015), From Princess to Queen: Heartbreaks, Heartgasms and Everything In-Between (2017), and {Un}Inhihibited (2019).
