Evolution is a Choice

Posted On: June 10, 2020

There was some lapse/ delay on my mobile while at the office today. I was scrolling through my Facebook feeds… and I came upon a FB post by a ‘friend’. For some reason, I couldn’t see their profile picture but I could see the name. I read the post and was impressed by the depth of his post.

I was puzzled as this did not seem like the words this particular friend could be capable of writing. I have come to know him as always negative, cynical, and bitter about life. I tried to support him as a friend, but eventually had to distance myself as I always found myself depressed-like after sending time with him. I was quite happy ‘loving’ him from afar especially since it seems he has a new love interest in his life.

As my Facebook wall loaded, it turned out to be a different person of the SAME name. No wonder. One is into tantra and conscious. The other (the ‘friend’ I thought it was) happy to wallow in his self-pity. People do change. People are capable of evolving – but not people who are happy to hold onto their ways.

I wondered if my friends think the same way of me – “Good riddance, she left the room! Why is she always so negative? I can’t stand her.”

Just as I could ask those questions of my ‘friend’, I asked myself the same questions now: Can I change? Am I evolving? Am I so attached to my old ways that I refuse to let go of what doesn’t serve me anymore?
