Feel Lost When Sex Comes Up – As a Counselor, Parent or Partner?
You Are Not Alone.
As a professional or curious individual in Singapore, you’ve likely noticed:
- Clients bringing up sexual concerns you don’t feel equipped to address
- Conversations about intimacy that leave you feeling awkward or uncertain
- A growing need for accurate, culturally-relevant information about sexuality
- Questions about consent, trauma, or non-traditional relationships that you can’t answer confidently
You’re not alone – and it’s not your fault. Most of us never received the education we needed.
Why this matters now more than ever
In today’s rapidly evolving landscape, sexual literacy isn’t optional – it’s essential:
- Digital transformation: Singapore’s youth are exposed to unprecedented sexual content online, often without context or accuracy
- Rising mental health concerns: Sexual issues are increasingly linked to anxiety, depression, and relationship breakdown
- Changing family structures: More diverse relationship models require new frameworks for understanding intimacy
- Post-pandemic reconnection: Many are struggling to rebuild physical and emotional intimacy after years of isolation
- Legal and cultural shifts: Recent changes in Singapore’s legal landscape have opened new conversations around sexuality
Without proper education, professionals and parents alike are left unprepared to navigate these complex waters.

More on the Program
Day 1
9:00 a.m. Registration
9:30 – 12:30p.m. – Awesome Boundaries with Brightly Abby
Boundaries are not walls, they’re invitations to safer, clearer, more empowered connection. This interactive session explores how to confidently set and receive boundaries in everyday life, intimacy, and communication. Through a sex-positive lens, we’ll unpack why saying no can feel hard, how culture and conditioning shape our limits, and what to do when others ignore them. Learn practical tools to honour your body, protect your peace, and communicate your needs without guilt. Whether you freeze, fawn, or go quiet when things get messy, this workshop will help you find your voice and use it. This session is one of two requirements to be eligible to become a member of Sex Positive Singapore social group. More here.
LUNCH
1:30 – 2:30p.m. – Body, Sex, and Religion: Faith Narratives, Sexual Identity, and the Role of Counselling by Tonia Goh
This session examines the intersection of faith and embodiment, exploring how spiritual beliefs can either foster flourishing or lead to conflict, shame, and confusion around sexuality. Drawing from a Christian theological perspective while engaging respectfully with broader human experiences, we will explore counselling issues such as masturbation, marital sexual discrepancies, pornography addiction, sexual orientation, gender dysphoria, and conversion therapy. We will reflect on the role of counselling, discussing how to approach these sensitive topics with ethical integrity, cultural humility, and theological sensitivity, while bridging faith and our embodied existence as sexual beings.
BREAK
3:00 – 4:00 p.m. – From ABC to Consent: Parenting in a Sexually Evolving World by Sharon Teo
In today’s rapidly shifting world, children are exposed to a larger pool of knowledge to meet the societal standards of education. Providing rooms for discussion helps children build greater awareness and conviction in decision making. Can the “Birds and Bees” technique still work versus open scientific scholarly chats on sex be the norm? This session equips parents with a deeper understanding of the developmental stages of sexuality, how socio-cultural shifts are influencing children’s view on sex, identity and relationships and how to confidently guide age-appropriate conversations at home. Learn how to foster open communication, body safety awareness and healthy boundaries while promoting values that matters to your family.
5:00 – 6:00 p.m. – Sexual Dysfunctions: Understanding Desire, Pain & Performance by Dr. Martha Tara Lee
Sexual challenges like low desire, pain during sex, or performance issues are more common than we think—yet rarely talked about. This session breaks down common sexual dysfunctions through a compassionate, evidence-based lens, exploring their physical, emotional, and relational roots. You’ll gain language and confidence to address these concerns, whether in personal relationships or professional settings. Expect practical insights into vaginismus, erectile issues, premature ejaculation, and desire discrepancies across genders and life stages.
Day 2
9:00 a.m. Registration
9:30 – 11:00 a.m. – Embodied Sexuality: Reconnecting with Your Body by Dominica Chua
This talk explores the profound connection between embodiment and sexuality. We will learn about the role of the nervous system and how it shapes our sexual experiences. You will experience how somatic interventions can support deeper connection, presence, and enhance these experiences. By understanding the inseparable relationship between the body and sexuality, we can begin to untangle shame and cultivate safety within ourselves. Embodiment exercises will be offered to support presence, guiding us towards more integrated, attuned, and fulfilling expressions of sexuality. This session invites participants to gently reconnect with their bodies and embrace sexuality as a natural, life-affirming part of being human.
11:30 – 12:30 p.m. – Sex, Ageing & Strength: Reclaiming Intimacy Across Life Transitions by Clementine Liu
As we live longer and face greater health challenges, ageing brings new questions about intimacy, identity, and desire. Can sexuality remain vibrant amid illness, disability, or hormonal shifts? This session reimagines ageing not as decline, but as transformation—and highlights how the reserves we build in our 30s and 40s shape how we thrive later.
Through a preventive and inclusive lens, participants will explore the impact of body changes, chronic conditions, and emotional shifts on sexual wellness. Learn how to nurture body awareness, emotional resilience, and relational strength across life stages—and reclaim a sense of agency, connection, and joy in your evolving sexual self.
LUNCH
1:30 – 2:30 p.m. – Sex & the Law through the Lens of the Penal Code by Nicholas Leow
When it comes to sex and sexuality, do you think Singapore has become more prudish, employing ever more controls over a most intimate area of life? Or do you think it has become more relaxed, leaving its citizens to explore and do what they please in the bedroom and with their bodies? When one considers the well-known repeal of s377A of the Penal Code, one might be inclined to think the answer is clearly the latter. But even a 10-second survey through the content page of the Penal Code would reveal that the sub-chapter on sexual offences on sex and sexuality have enjoyed the greatest number of additions of new laws than any other group of offences. How might one explain this apparent contradiction? This one-hour session explores the sexual offences sub-chapter of the Penal Code and attempts to shed light on the position and attitude of the law on issues such as consent, privacy and sexual communications.
2:30 – 4:00 p.m. – LGBTQIA+ Panel: Sex, Love & Identity
Since the repeal of Section 377A, many wonder what has truly changed for LGBTQIA+ individuals in Singapore. In this honest and moving panel, community members share their coming-out journeys, how their identities shape their relationships, and what life feels like post-377A—what’s shifted, and what hasn’t. They’ll speak to what they wish friends, families, and especially counsellors better understood about queer realities, mental health, and navigating love in a still-conservative society. This session invites deeper listening, reflection, and allyship rooted in lived truth.
BREAK
4:30 – 5:30 p.m. – Kink, Fantasy & Taboo: Exploring with Consent by Dr. Martha Tara Lee and Pup Jax
Curious about kink, fantasy, or taboo desires—but unsure how to talk about them? This session offers a judgment-free space to explore these topics through the lens of consent, safety, and self-awareness. Discover how to have open, respectful conversations about alternative sexualities and support others without shame or assumptions. We’ll also examine the role of media, myths, and boundaries in shaping our attitudes toward the unconventional.
